Character Info:
Name: Marty McFly
Age: 17
AU/PG/CANON/OC: Canon

Summary:

  • Marty was born to a not to great family. Not abusive, per se, but between his cowardly dad and his depressed, alcoholic mom, but once he got old enough to know that his family wasn't too good, started distancing himself from said family.

  • Throughout his childhood, Marty also heard about this local nutcase named "Dr. Brown". Rumors ranged from "Kidnapping children for experiments" to "tried to create nuclear bombs inside his house". Once he turned 12, he decided to sneak in to this "nutjob's" place to see if he was really the crazed scientist that everyone claimed he would be. Instead Marty hit it off right away with him and became fast friends with Doc, even working as an assistant to him for five years.

  • In October 1985, however, Doc calls Marty after vanishing for a few days, saying that he needs to meet up with him that night. As it turned out, he had been building a time machine and wanted to show Marty the finished product.

  • However, soon after Doc revealed that he got the plutonium for the time machine from terrorists, and coincidentally almost immediately after said terrorist find Doc and gun him down. In a panic, Marty takes the time machine (A DeLorean) to escape and accidentally sends himself thirty years in the past

  • After a series of unfortunate events, Marty accidentally prevents his parents from meeting and making his mom fall in love with him while saving his future father from getting hit by a car. Soon after that he meets up with Doc and, after a little convincing, tells him that he's from the future and needs his help.

  • After a lot of effort, they were able to undo Marty's mistake and he attempts to tell Doc about getting gunned down in the future before going back. While Doc doesn't want to listen to him at first, he eventually realizes when he's gone that it is urgent and invests in a bullet proof vest for the fateful night. When Marty gets back, Doc decides to leave to check out the future and Marty soon learns that his family is now a heck of a lot better (except he can't remember his new childhood)

  • However, that very same day Doc returns to take Marty and his girlfriend to the future to save his kids from getting arrested. While doing that, Marty decides to get an Almanac so that he can win some bets. Rather predictably, it get stolen by Biff (a guy who really hates the McFly family) to give it to his past self, creating a dystopian future where he is sort of like a ruler.
  • Marty and Doc eventually undo their mistake again, but Doc accidentally gets sent back to 1885 where the DeLorean breaks down. Using the now old DeLorean that 1885 Doc hid away for Marty to find, he goes back to save Doc from getting shot and dying too early. He tries to convince Doc to come back with him, but Doc is eventually forced to stay in the past with his new girlfriend. Luckily, Doc was able to create a Time Train so that he can still see Marty again.

  • The first thing you need to know about Marty is that he acts like your typical “80’s cool guy”. He’s plays lead guitar in a band, skateboards, and is late for school. He generally has a chill outlook on life and his biggest goals are to become a rock star. He is not especially rebellious however, sure he’s definitely not a “conform to avoid any sort of harm”, but unless he needed to, he probably wouldn’t commit crimes out of rebellion.
Marty is seriously loyal to his friends. Not just “I won’t leave you”, but he shows throughout the trilogy that his loyalty extends to “I don’t care if my future and life is at stake, I will make sure that you’re okay”. This is especially evident in the third movie of the trilogy, when he goes against Doc’s instructions of going back to 1985 and goes to 1885 just to save Doc’s life. Even though he would have been long dead in Marty’s home year.
Not only is he loyal, but he is very good at making friends. As long as you don't make a terrible first impression with him he will at least be willing to hang out with you. Heck, Marty is more than willing to ignore some rumors he's heard about someone if he believes that there might be another side to them that he hasn't heard about.
He also has a really short temper. In the second in third movies he is shown that he gets enraged just by being called “chicken”, but at this canon point he is learning to control it, only getting annoyed at being called “chicken”. Although it still wouldn’t take much to set Marty off, just not as freakishly easy to either. It would probably take some good insults to someone he cares about to, or if someone insults him really badly.
Marty tends to be a very rash thinker, usually thinking of a plan as he’s going through with something and not focusing on what could go wrong. It has gotten him both into trouble and helped others out through this trait; he nearly died and prevented someone from dying, for example. In fact one might say that his best quality is quick thinking
However, under the rashness and anger issues, he is also a little insecure, especially when it comes to doing what he loves. Inherited from his father, he tends to feel discouraged whenever anyone critiques his music and tries to avoid it because he fears rejection. He also needs some convincing to perform in front of crowds, especially if the event is big.

Gem Considerations: I'm thinking that Marty should get moonstone.  It is a very passionate stone where one of its properties is that it helps “predict the future”.  It can also “reunite lovers who have quarreled” and Marty was able to sort or “reunite lovers” in the first movie.

Plus it’s Moonstone and if Marty’s Darth Vader speech is anything to go by, is at least a secret sci fi nerd.

    Power considerations:

    -Summoning a “battle guitar”
    -Causing shock waves
    -Hovering

Considering that magic/superpowers don’t exist at all in his universe, he won’t really lose anything with the power cap (except for maybe his weird inability to die ever.)

    Power descriptions:
Battle Guitar: Marty can summon a white guitar that he can hit people with, like a musical club. He can also play music on it if he wants to.
Shock Waves: However if he really “rocks out”, he can (of course granted that he gains the power first) create small Earthquakes through the music.
Hovering: He can hover a little except not over water. Not terribly useful but if there's a hole he can walk over it no problem.

Sample: Here you go! I can give more out on request too.
